An idea in development / Mushtarak
The Social Lab
We meet to understand. Understanding opens another conversation.
Explore the ideaHow do we live with our differences? What can we build together from experiences that do not look alike?
Through the Social Lab, we aim to create space for Syrians to listen to one another and explore questions that shape their lives, relationships, and society. We see dialogue as a practice that can help build trust, understand social divisions, and discover possibilities for meeting and working together.
From conversation to knowledge
We are developing an approach that brings young Syrians together around a topic that matters to them—from identity and belonging to everyday life and social change.
The idea is to document the experiences, questions, and disagreements that emerge, then share this material with social researchers. Their interpretations could help place these conversations in a wider context and open new questions for further dialogue.
Building common ground together
We do not assume that everyone will reach the same opinion. We want to make room for differences to be understood and discussed, and for people to discover what they can learn from one another.
The Social Lab is an idea being developed within Mushtarak: connecting encounters with knowledge, and knowledge with new possibilities for shared life.
